PURPOSE
The audiometrist refresher course is intended for persons who is responsible for conducting audiometric screening tests in an occupational setting. As a practicing audiometrist it is imperative to stay up to date with changes in legislation and standards. Therefore, it is recommended that all audiometrists attend a refresher course every two years.
The refresher course is a summary of the audiometrist course, which was developed based on the SAQA unit standard 252126. After completion of the audiometrist refresher course the student will have updated skills and knowledge in the field of occupational audiometry and will be informed of the current relevant legislation and standards.
OUTCOMES
After the completion of the course the student will be able to:
- Prepare for an audiometric screening.
- Conduct an audiometric screening test on adults.
- Interpret, evaluate, record and report the audiometric screening test results of adults.
- Conduct screening of adults in occupational health settings, under the supervision of an occupational health practitioner or audiologist.
- Apply the current legislations, regulations and standards in the field of audiometry.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
TRAINING FORMATS
Onsite training: Students will attend a one-day course which includes a theoretical and practical session. The course concludes with a theoretical and practical assignment.
eLearning (self-study): Upon registration students will have access to the online course material for two weeks. During this time students have to complete the course material and the assignments.
