PURPOSE
This training program equips audiologists and clinical neurophysiologists with the knowledge and practical competencies required for accurate Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing, interpretation, and diagnosis. Delegates will gain the theoretical understanding and hands-on skills needed to apply ABR testing confidently in clinical practice.

Applicants must operate within the scope of practice defined by their national governing body (e.g. HPCSA in South Africa).

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE & DELIVERY
The course consists of 8 modules where all learning activities are presented through the online virtual classroom.
Learning is self-paced, supported by asynchronous interaction with experienced ABR tutors and academic staff. Online tutors and academic support staff guide students to complete the program within the suggested time frame and provide academic support.
Assessments primarily focus on the application of knowledge. Assignments are completed online after each module has been completed.
PROGRAMME OUTLINE & DURATION

±2 hours per week for 3 months (online theory)

In-person practical workshop in Pretoria, South Africa

Revision of core theory

Hands-on ABR sessions supervised by clinical neurophysiologists and audiologists

- Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)

Conduct 10 ABR assessments on normal-hearing individuals

Compile and submit a PoE within 8 weeks

Estimated completion time: ~20 hours
A final revised PoE may be submitted after receiving feedback.

*Study breaks are scheduled over the Easter and Christmas holiday season.
A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful completion of all modules and the Portfolio of Evidence (PoE).
PROGRAMME FEES
Course fees are due at registration. Course fees include all learning material and practical workshop sessions (including refreshments and lunch). Laptop, associated data costs as well as travel and accommodation, to attend the practical workshop, are excluded.

How long will I study?
2 hours a week for 3 months online, plus practical workshop in Pretoria, South Africa.
After the workshop, you’ll complete a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) within 8 weeks (approx. 20 hours). After feedback, you’ll have 2 weeks for final submission.
A certificate of competence will be issued if students have completed all modules and the PoE successfully.
